Health councils were created by Florida Statute in 1983 to identify, address and resolve health care issues of local concern. The Council’s mission is to make health care better for residents in the counties it serves. We define and resolve health care issues through community partnerships.
The Health Council of West Central Florida, Inc. (HCWCF) serves residents in Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee and Polk counties. The Suncoast Health Council, Inc. (SHC) serves residents in Pasco and Pinellas counties. Together, these two agencies are known and operate as The Health Councils, Inc. (THC).
We collect and analyze health care data, identify health care needs and resources; and work with our community partners to improve access to affordable, quality health care services for the area’s most vulnerable residents.
Our staff has extensive knowledge of public health and social support issues and experience working on collaborative community projects. We provide programs that are culturally appropriate and outreach to target populations.
