    Health councils were created by Florida Statute in 1983
and there are eleven health councils located throughout Florida.
 
The Health Council of West Central Florida, Inc. (HCWCF)
serves residents in Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee
and Polk counties.
The Suncoast Health Council, Inc. (SHC) is separately
incorporated and serves residents in Pasco and Pinellas counties.

SHC and HCWCF share management and staff resources to optimize limited funding resources. The two health councils do business collectively as The Health Councils, Inc. (THC)
