In 2006, The Health Councils prepared a county health profile for each of the seven counties it serves.The profiles are updated on a yearly basis. Each profile provides a snapshot of major indicators of the health status of residents in the county. The data contained in the profile was gathered from numerous sources and is displayed in tables and graphs for ease of the user. Data elements include: general demographics (age, sex, race), socioeconomics (income, unemployment, educational level, medical expenditures), federal designations (professional shortage areas), leading cause of death, maternal and child health (birth rates, prenatal care, immunizations), healthcare access, and utilization of resources (hospitals, nursing homes and emergency rooms).
